Charlotte Daily Short: The Queen City's Breweries

Charlotte has long been known for NASCAR, 'Rasslin, and big banks, but the Queen City is quickly becoming famous for the quantity and quality of its breweries.

According to this list published on Charlotte's Got A Lot, there are 18 existing breweries in the Charlotte area with 19 more "coming soon."

I'm not a beer connoisseur (though I'd like to be), but I've been known to throw back a few in my day. Fortunately, my palate has graduated from the best selling American Pilsners to local microbreweries.

Ass Clown Brewing Company in Cornelius may have the best name and it's a sentimental favorite of mine because it's owned by a friend's cousin.

The South End's Olde Mecklenburg Brewery is the area's oldest and most widely distributed brewery.  OMB was also named the best brewery tour in the nation in a USA Today survey in 2014.

I'm particularly fond of NoDa Brewing Company's Jam Session and Hop, Drop 'n Roll.

The Unknown Brewing Company's Pre Game Session Ale is my favorite of the breweries' light beers and Triple C Brewing Company brews the deliciously awesome and award-winning 3C IPA.

Finally, as a Waxhaw resident, I'm looking forward to the arrival of Dreamweaver's Brewery sometime in 2016.

I'd love to hear readers' comments about their favorite local brews!
