Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers play host to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday afternoon in Charlotte's Bank of America Stadium.
Regardless of the outcome, Carolina is guaranteed to finish the regular season with the NFL's best record.
With a victory today over the Bucs, Carolina will finish 15-1 and in sole possession of the league's best record.
A loss and an Arizona Cardinals victory over the Seattle Seahawks would land Carolina in a tie for the best record with Arizona at 14-2.
The Panthers have never completed an NFL regular season better than 12-4, so they are already assured of setting a new franchise record for wins in a season.
Carolina also established a new franchise record with an NFL-best 10 players selected to the 2016 Pro Bowl.
That's nearly 20 percent of the Panthers' active roster on any given Sunday.
However, the team led by Newton, head coach Ron Rivera, and linebacker Luke Kuechly has is sites set on Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara.
Pro Bowlers Thomas Davis, Greg Olsen, and Josh Norman would also like to play their final game of the season in California, not in Hawaii.
No matter the result of this afternoon's game, or Carolina's performance in the upcoming NFL Playoffs, Charlotte has a team to be proud of in the Carolina Panthers.
However, the Panthers won't be satisfied with anything less than Charlotte hosting the Queen City's first ever championship parade in February following a victory in Super Bowl 50.
